BIRSST is a program designed to provide services for people of all ages that have suffered a brain injury.
In July 2013, the Legislature passed LB923, which pertains to a return to learn protocol for students who have sustained a concussion. Area and state wide school districts are putting together BIRSST Teams to support these injuries as they occur, as well as to monitor a students’ progress after sustaining a concussion. This has been done in collaboration with NDE to offer information and support schools and families and students.
