School Improvement or CIP

Accredited Nebraska schools must have a systematic on-going process that guides planning, implementation, and evaluation and renewal of continuous school improvement activities to meet local and statewide goals and priorities.  The process includes a periodic review by visiting educators who provide consultation to the local school/community in continued accomplishment of plans and goals.

The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) School Improvement and Accreditation Team, along with the ESU PD team, leads and supports Nebraska Schools in assuring equitable educational opportunities and promoting improved performance for all learners through continuous school improvement.

Schools have two paths to accreditation and may elect to follow either a Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) process administered by NDE or in liaison with a standards-based system approach administered by AdvancED (formerly North Central Association).

Go to Nebraska school improvement toolkit for more information on the four phases of CIP Plans (at right), as well as topic guides and resources and NDE team contacts.
